Mindfulness meditation can anchor you in the present moment and free you from the torture of negative thinking. That’s why I started practicing it back in 2014. At the time, I felt unhappy: everything I did or achieved did not bring lasting satisfaction. What kept me going was the hope or possibility of some improvement in the future. Yet the finish line kept moving farther and farther away the more progress I made to reach it. My daily meditation practice changed all of that. It’s helped me realize that suffering can only exist in time; it cannot survive in the actuality of the now. I see the futility of trying to escape from the now and seeking salvation in the future. “Time doesn’t know / What its time for us all to know.”
DRIVE
From Dream This by Joe 90Bigger more powerful
And yet nobody knows
Let’s not forget to discuss
All of the freeloadsHere is the car you drive
The window is open wide
Many nice folks suggest
That we go for a drive
Time doesn’t know
What its time for us all to knowI like a yellow shirt
And I like orange shades
I like your green suede shoes
And all the sweaters you madeHere is the car you drive
The window is open wide
Many nice folks suggest
That we go for a drive
Time doesn’t know
What its time for us all to knowEscape from the crowd
Escape from the dark
Escape from East Berlin
Escape from the planet Earth
Escape from the Planet of the ApesHere is the car you drive
The window is open wide
Many nice folks suggest
That we go for a drive
Time doesn’t know
What its time for us all to knowWe don’t know nothing, nobody
No one at all
