This space is dedicated to the love of reading, the craft of writing, and the pursuit of lifelong learning. I believe that books are the best tools for conversation, and I encourage you to share your thoughts, critiques, and recommendations here.
To ensure this remains a safe, constructive, and enjoyable space for all readers, I ask that you adhere to the following guidelines when commenting.
1. Be Kind & Respectful
- Disagree without being disagreeable. We all have different interpretations of the books we read. You are welcome to disagree with me or another commenter, but do so respectfully. Personal attacks, name-calling, and harassment will not be tolerated.
- Assume good faith. If someone has a different perspective, assume they are sharing it to enlighten or learn, not to attack.
2. Keep it Constructive
- Add to the conversation. Comments that simply say “Great post!” are lovely, but I encourage you to take it a step further. What specific part resonated with you? What did you learn?
- Critique the idea, not the person. If you are criticizing a book’s argument, prose, or character development, that is highly encouraged. However, please refrain from judging the people who enjoyed (or disliked) the book.
3. Zero Tolerance for Hate Speech
- This is a strict rule. Comments containing racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or any form of discrimination will be immediately deleted, and the user will be banned.
4. Self-Promotion or Spam
- I love discovering new authors and bloggers, but this is not a billboard. Please do not drop links to your own books, products, or services in the comments unless specifically asked. (An occasional link to a free resource is allowed if it’s relevant to the topic being discussed.)
5. Spoiler Alert
- We all hate an accidental spoiler. If you are discussing a major plot point or ending, please use a Spoiler Warning at the beginning of your comment. I will moderate spoilers to ensure first-time readers aren’t ruined.
6. Moderation Policy
- Timing: We will our my best to moderate comments within 24–48 hours, but please be patient if you don’t see your comment immediately.
- Right to Removal: We reserve the right to edit, delete, or move any comment that violates this policy. If you violate the terms, you may be blocked from the community.
- Appeals: If you feel your comment was removed in error, please contact us directly by emailing to [email protected] with the subject line “Comment Review.”
7. Privacy and Data
- Be mindful of your own privacy. Do not share personal contact information (email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses) in the public comment section.
8. How to Report a Problem
- If you see a comment that violates these rules before I do, please flag it using the “Flag” button within Disqus.
