Meta wants its employees to feel closer to the company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, by interacting with his AI twin.

Three people familiar with the matter said the company is working to create a photorealistic, AI-powered 3D character of Mark Zuckerberg, according to the Financial Times.

The billionaire’s mannerisms, public statements, and his thinking on company strategies are used for character training — so that Meta’s staff “might feel more connected to the founder through interactions with it.” The character is also being trained on his voice and images.

One person confirmed the Meta chief is personally involved in the project, ensuring that his digital replica can offer conversation and feedback to employees. He also spends five to ten hours a week coding on various AI projects and joining technical reviews. If successful, the project could allow creators and influencers to develop their own AI twins.

Some of the company’s employees, who are already being forced to use AI to increase efficiency, fear that this initiative foreshadows job cuts.

Zuckerberg’s effort to create an AI clone, which is in early stages, is separate from the project to build a “CEO agent” to help him run Meta.
